ARTIST LISTING

Armando Morales

Armando Morales is one of the most important modern artists of Nicaragua who has lived most of his life in exile from his country. In the early 1960s, Morales moved to New York due to a Guggenheim scholarship and has permanently lived in Paris since 1982. Morales was trained in the classic style of art. This work, based on the figure, is representative of a sculpture from the ancient period; the posture and dimensions are reminiscent of Greek and Roman classical art. The black and white color palette reinforces the concept of an ancient relic being rescued from the past.
-----
